Cultivating Clarity in 2018

What’s on the 2018 horizon for Cultivate Holistic Health?

Cultivating Clarity in 2018.

In the era of online bullying, hidden agendas, fake news, and alternate truths, it is more important than ever to develop our intuition, fine tune our ability to discern, and to do the work to Cultivate Clarity in all things.

I’ve been taking the time to get quiet and truly listen to what I want to concentrate on this year.

I am troubled by the lack of integrity in our dealings with one another.

It demonstrates a disregard for humanity and a collapse of kindness that is deeply concerning to me.

I initially chose the word love for my word of 2018 until I came to the realization that without integrity, there can be no love. Without clarity, there can be no integrity.

The more I thought about it the more I realized that I want to focus on my own clarity as well as encouraging others to develop the skills necessary to end compromising the truth which is the core of integrity.

There is no alternate truth.

There are differing perceptions and agendas but that doesn’t change the underlying premise of the truthfulness of something.

I also want us to dive deeply into what happens to us as a people when we are willing to accept the words of individuals that are obviously biased and come  from a place of hatred.

Verbally abusive. Unkind. Unsubstantiated. Vitriolic. Untruthful. Bullies.

Is this who we want to be as a people?

We must do better. We must be better.

We must be uncompromising in our commitment to truly demonstrate love for one another through our thoughts, words, and actions.

It starts with us, as individuals.

We can no longer say, “but so and so did or said whatever” to justify our actions. We must each declare ourselves the keeper of the promise to love one another. To treat one another humanely. To want what is best for each other. To support one another. To sacrifice for one another. To serve one another.

How can we demonstrate our commitment to be better?

  1.  Commit to being kind. No matter what. This is non-negotiable.
  2.  Commit to being compassionate. No reveling in the misfortune of others.
  3.  Commit to being aware. Get out of your own bubble. Everyone has difficult stuff. Help when you can.
  4.  Commit to being truthful. Be accountable for what you say. No gossiping. No drama. No insinuation.
  5. Commit to doing your own research. No more blindly following the loud voices.  Recognize exaggerations for what they are…false and misleading.
  6. Commit to Cultivating Clarity. Be responsible for developing your discernment muscles.
  7. Commit to exercising discernment. Discernment is the ability to reason the truth of something. It is our responsibility to be discerning. It is not our responsibility to opine on everything.
  8. Commit to practicing the pause. Before speaking, typing, or tweeting, take a  breath. Ask yourself, is this dialogue helpful or hurtful.

What do you think of the state of our interactions with others?  How do you take responsibility for the energy you are putting out into the world?  How can we encourage each other to do better and be better?

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
